If you’ve ever been lucky enough to travel on a Qatar Airways Flight then it would come as no surprise that they were voted the World’s Best Airline at this year’s SKYTRAX Awards. This is their fifth time taking home the top-honours and wasn’t the only prize they took home on the evening. They were also awarded for the ‘Best Business Class’, ‘Best Business Class Seat and ‘Best Airline in the Middle-East’. We have a sneaking suspicion that their Business Class seats might be a good bet for next year’s awards as well.
1. Direct Flights from Cape Town & Johannesburg
Save both time and money with direct flights from Cape Town and Johannesburg to Doha with no need to stop-over in Johannesburg or add a domestic flight before boarding for your first international stop. Flights departing from Durban do however have a technical stop in Johannesburg, but there is still no need to see the inside of OR Tambo Airport.
2. 35 Flights from South Africa Per Week
You can now catch a Qatar flight departing from Johannesburg 21 times a week, 10 times a week from Cape Town and 4 times a week from Durban. More options allow for better planning and less time wasted waiting on connections when on a stop-over trip.
3. Destinations All Over the World
With over 160 destinations world wide, Qatar flights are a natural choice for South African travellers. Their daily direct flights from Cape Town and Johannesburg to Doha allow for connections to destinations all over the world like London, Phuket, Bangkok, New York and many more.
4. QSUITE Makes Business Class Even Better
If you thought it doesn’t get much better than lie-flat beds, then you haven’t heard of QSUITE yet. This is the industry’s first-ever double bed featuring privacy panels that stow away. This innovation allows guests to create a private double room out of two adjoining Business Class seats. Passengers can enjoy the QSUITE from November when departing from Cape Town and from December 2019 when departing from Johannesburg.
5. Frequent Specials
Although usually reasonably priced, the airline also frequently runs specials. Look out for destination-specific deals as well as the occasional global sale (usually on almost all 160 destinations) by signing up to the FlightSite newsletter.
