Just because you are planning a family holiday doesn’t mean you have to compromise on luxury, especially if you are thinking of exploring the beautiful “Mother City”.
Cape Town is the ultimate destination for a fun family holiday and offers visitors a chance to experience some of the world’s top tourist attractions that cater to all ages. From its stunning beaches to its theme parks, museums, craft markets and natural attractions, there are plenty of holiday activities to keep the family entertained.
The Cape also boasts the most magnificent settings including kilometres of white, sandy coastlines, numerous walking trails and heaps of incredible places to discover. Get to the top of Table Mountain by cable car, go see the penguins at Boulders Beach, take a walk around one of the working harbours or revel in the beauty of the picturesque Cape Winelands while sharing a glass of wine with your nearest and dearest.
The natural attractions of Chapman’s Peak and Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens provide holidaymakers with excellent walking, hiking and photographic opportunities. The most obvious destination in summer is the beach and Cape Town has several blue flag beaches that offer long stretches of soft white sand where you and your family can enjoy building sand castles, swimming, surfing and kite boarding. Other must see attractions include the fynbos at Cape Point, the local plants and flowers at Kirstenbosch, and all the
magnificent sea views while you drive along the mountain passes.
The V&A Waterfront is an incredible family destination not to be missed. It is renowned for its world-class shopping and dining experiences, but it also offers plenty of family activities too. Hop on a boat to Seal Island, wander through the famous Two Oceans Aquarium or take a ferry to Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for 27-years. The Waterfront is also the ideal hang out for a traditional fish-and chips lunch beside the harbour, and an ice cream for dessert while you take a stroll along the boardwalk.
The Cape is small enough to offer a more personal experience, but at the same time it’s big enough for you and the family to get lost in the plethora of tourist attractions on offer.
