August 25, 2025

The land of smiles might be most famous for yoga retreats and beach stays, but just because it specialises in R&R doesn’t mean there isn’t a wild side to Thailand. The tropic destination offers everything from the predictable water sports like snorkeling and surfing to golfing and ziplining. There is even Muay Thai classes if you fancy a more authentic experience for yourself.

You’ve heard enough about Thailand’s beaches and spa’s, today we’re taking a closer look at five adventurous activities you simply have to enjoy on your next visit.

Golf

Did you know that Thailand boasts over 300 golf courses? 27 of these are located in the Chonburi Province, making Pattaya a favourite stop among those who want to tee off in Thailand. The country also boasts several big name golf resorts, including Banyan Tree Phuket and Sofitel Krabi, which is perfect for those who wants to enjoy activities beyond golf.

Ziplining

Of course Thailand consists of more than just spectacular beaches and one of the best ways to experience the vast jungle is with a treetop zipline. Since it is quite a popular Thai adventure, you’re likely to find a zipline park in your area. One of the most popular is located in Chian Mai, situated in the mountain rainforest and spanning over a 1000 meters.

Muay Thai

Whether you prefer to spectate or would like to get in on the action, you simply cannot have an authentic Thai experience without enjoying the art of eight limbs. It is often described as kickboxing, which doesn’t fully encompass everything that Muay Thai involves. Fists, elbows, knees, and shins all get in on the action with this martial art form.

The leading Muay Thai stadiums are all located in Bangkok. Don’t miss a game at Lumpini Stadium or Rajadamnern Stadium (the first Muay Thai stadium in Bangkok) if you have the chance.

If you’re more inclined to participate, make sure you set aside a week for one of the training camps in Bangkok, Phuket or Chiang Mai.

Water Sports

Since Thailand has some excellent beaches, it is no surprise that they also offer a variety of water sports. There is the typical diving, snorkeling and surfing that you can either do with your resort or privately.

Kyaking and canoeing are two popular ways to explore the beautiful shoreline and all it’s hidden secrets. Think James Bond island and secret caves. If you’re seeking speed and thrill, then you’ll definitely want to look into hiring a jet ski at Phuket. Just make sure you are doing so from a licensed operator.

Bungee Jumping

This is problabably the most adventurous activity on our list, but we can’t talk about adrenaline sports without including the most iconic one. Pattaya is bungee jumping central, boasting the highest bungee jump spot (at 60m high) that is sure to make adrenaline seekers weak in the knees. There are also a host of other options in Pattaya if you want to try it without necessarily going for the highest option.

With all these and many more activities to choose from, you can see why travellers often return to Thailand. There is more than enough to guarantee a lifetime of adventure!
