Beer tasting: The Craft Beer scene has taken off in Cape Town with hundreds of micro breweries popping up all around the Western Cape. Brewery tours are really fun and for fathers (who always love beer) a brewery tour will be the perfect way to start off fathers day. The Devil’s Peak Brewing in Salt River and Birkenhead Brewery in Stanford just outside of Hermanus both do great brewery tours coupled with a beer tasting. The Beer House in Cape Town offers beers from all around the world for tasting, Foresters Arms also has beer tasting along with some great food for your fathers day lunch.

Seafood on the beach: When in Cape Town eat seafood. Some of the best seafood in the world is caught just off the Western Cape coastline, Galjoen, Crayfish, Abalone and Snoek are all found in our waters. Franschhoek Motor Museum: One of the world’s finest private car collections is on display at the Franschhoek Motor Museum on the L’Ormarins Wine Estate just outside of Franschhoek. The museum has a wide variety of cars on display from a 1903 Ford Model A to a one of a kind 1960 Ferrari 250 GT Nembo Spider to a McLaren F1 exhibited between numerous F1 racing cars which date back as far as the 1950’s.

The Springbok Experience: This museum which only recently opened has been a massive success. The exhibit tells the story of the history of South African Rugby and South Africa itself as sport and politics have always been linked in South Africa. Over 100 years worth of history is on display here from the Springbok Jacket of Paul Roos, the first Springbok Captain, to John Smit’s jersey that he wore during the World Cup final , dad’s will love this place, trust us!

Durban and Surroundings
Gwahumbe Reserve Game & Spa: This beautiful game reserve is offering a Fathers day lunch for only R150. Along with the great food you can also enjoy a game drive around the reserve, at an additional cost. Starters include tomato salsa and tzatziki with crispy flat bread and bread sticks, Jack Daniel’s cured gravadlax, grilled chorizo chutney and smoked beetroot and feta to name but a few dishes. Springboks vs Ireland
The mighty springboks are playing their second game of the year the day before fathers day on the 18th of June 2015 at Ellis Park, Johannesburg. If you would like to give your father a early fathers day present by taking him to the game be sure to book tickets earlier rather than later because they are selling fast. Rugby for fathers day, a match made in heaven.

Golf: Sundays and golf go hand in hand like tea and cookies. The winter weather makes it a bit tricky to play a good round of golf but one can only hope for clear skies. There is a huge amount of fine golf courses to choose from in Johannesburg and they all serve lunch and drinks.
