South African Airways recently announced that it’s added yet another customer benefit to its inflight offering. Along with comfortable seating, sumptuous cuisine and the latest audio visual entertainment, SAA passengers can now look forward to a new technological advance – pre-flight social check-ins, enabling passengers to choose whom they sit next to based on their interests or destination. The new feature presents passengers with a great in-flight networking opportunity for those who spend many hours in transit.
By means of the ‘Social Check-in’ feature, you can now manage your airline bookings via your Facebook profile when checking in online. Simply login to www.flysaa.com or m.flysaa.com and enter your flight details. By following the prompts for Social Check-in, you can share as much or as little information as you want to with your fellow travellers.
Depending on the information that you share, Social Check-in will allow you to view other users according to the details they submit, and accompanied by the seat map for your particular flight. You can then
select a seat next to someone with common interests, or based on concert or event attendance, etc.
According to South African Airways Country Manager – India, Sajik Khan, “Social Check-In rounds off this experience by allowing passengers to enjoy their journey and experience, seated beside someone they are comfortable with while also giving them a chance to meet and socialise with like-minded people. It’s just another small detail to enhance the experience of flying with SAA.”
Presently Social Check-in is available for all passengers travelling on domestic and international routes offered by South African Airways, including flights to Mumbai from Johannesburg.
