Romantic Getaways

When someone asks you how your day was, often your answer is “busy”.  Our days blur from one to the next and every now and again you stop and wonder where is the time going?!

How often do you get away from it all? Pack your partner and your bags and just go, whether it be just a quick night away, or take a full weekend to just relax.

Here are a few suggestions of romantic weekend destinations, because everyone needs a little romance in their lives 😉

Cape Town: There are so many places to choose from in and around Cape Town that the process of choosing just one can be quite a task, but the beautiful Tintswalo Atlantic definately stands out for me. Tintswalo means “the intangible feeling of love, gratitude and peace bestowed upon someone offering you a meaningful and worthy gift. And that is indeed, what it does

Durban: The Oyster Box opened its doors in 1947 and immediately became one of Africa’s most loved and distinguished hotels. Its beautiful colonial charm, service, lush tropical gardens and breathtaking sea views really set apart from anything else world wide. It really is something different, with tall lush palms soaking up the sunlight in the airy open courtyard, to the huge colonial fans turning slowly on the ceiling this truly is a magnificent place to stay.

Knysna: Everyone climbed (or knew someone who did) tree houses as a kid. What better way to relieve those memories, than staying in a real life, and possibly better designed, tree house! And Phantom Forest Eco Reserve offers just that. With a selection of suites, there is no better place to hide out and get away from it all! Imagine a bubble bath on your own private deck over looking the forest. With a selection of extras such as The Nature Pool or The Bubble Barrel, you will definately get a chance to relax and re-connect.

Sabi Sands: When I think of South Africa, the first thing that comes to mind is definately the bush. With all that it has to offer I would say this has to be one of the best destinations to visit. And what better place to experience an original and incredible African safari than at The Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve. It has mind blowing scenery, and has accommodation to suit any budget, not to mention the wildlife encounters that you can experience. Sabi Sand is the ultimate safari destination. There are so many lodges to choose from in the Reserve that whatever you are looking for you will most certainly find.

Vic Falls: A little further from home, you will find a another African Paradise, the Victora Falls, also one of the Natural Wonders of the World. There are two ways to get there, either in through Zimbabwe or Zambia and both sides providing magnificent views and easy entry. The best time to visit is during the rainy season of March to May. Something that is highly recommended is a visit to a small island of the Zambian side called Devils Pool. Its awesome to swim in a natural rock pool on the edge of the Falls. Tongabezi Lodge, is a perfect place to spend a few days. Its a romantic hideaway of the banks of the Zambezi Lodge consisting  of houses and cottages. This really is the perfect get away as nothing is to much for the people of Tongabezi
